Christmas Party 19 December 2012

Our Residents, staff, family and friends enjoyed a fabulous Christmas Party, with entertainment provided by our very own Michael!

The draw for the 100 club also took place, and Chairman of the Trustees, Mr Penny presented the winner, Mrs Barbara Parker, with her prize.

The afternoon was finished off with a lovely buffet tea, and everyone agreed they had enjoyed a wonderful day.

We had a beautiful day here at Bushell House to celebrate the wedding of Mrs Sims Granddaughter.

The sun was shining, and everyone looked lovely, especially Mrs Sims!

Garden Party 21 July 2012

Our Garden Party was a huge success and drew an impressive crowd!  Residents, friends, family and staff all enjoyed the day, which included a raffle, stalls and refreshments.  The weather was  extremely kind to us, and helped make the day the success it was.

Over £1100 was raised on the day, which will go towards the residents amenities fund. Grateful thanks to the Bushell House League of Friends who work tirelessly throughout the year to prepare such events, and to everyone else who was involved in the organisation and execution of the day.

Founders Day 3rd June 2012

Mr Penny, Chairman of the Trustees We held our annual Founders Day service in the Parish Church.

There was an excellent attendance of parishioners, Bushell House residents, Trustees, Goosnargh Festival Rose Queen and attendants. An additional delegation from Nova Scotia with Mounted Policeman in full regalia!

A thoughtful sermon was given by the Archdeacon of Lancaster, with added reference to the Queens Diamond Jubilee which coincided with the weekend.
Readings were given by Mr. Penny [Chairman of the Trustees] and also our resident Mr. Finch.

A sociable buffet lunch was provided for all at Bushell House at which a floral tribute was presented from the Rose Queen to Susan Jones our manager.   The Festival Queen presents Mrs Jones with a beautiful bouquet

Sainsbury’s brightens up Bushell’s

This photo, taken shortly before Gwen started her fortnightly quiz session, shows some of the lovely flowers kindly donated by Sainsbury’s in Longridge.  The store gave Bushell House several arrangements of beautiful pinks, chrysanthemums and roses for the residents and staff to enjoy around the house.  We are very grateful to them for their generosity.

17th January 2012 – St Petersburg and Moscow

Steuart Kellington was kind enough to come to Bushell House on Tuesday with his wife to talk us through their marvellous selection of slides taken while on holiday in Moscow and St Petersburg.  We were transported from a grey wet Lancashire day to the gilded churches and palaces of Russia with sun shining on the gold leafed domes.  We all enjoyed the splendour on the screen and hope that the Kellingtons will visit again soon.
